Introduction

Avalon Light Photoart is a sole proprietorship. We use information to allow contact with customers and suppliers. All information is held under the Data Protection Act 2018 (incorporating the European Union General Data Protection Regulations, GDPR). Data held is protected behind a firewall.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Customer Information

Avalon Light Photoart collects customer information, such as e-mail address and where necessary, address and telephone number for the purpose of sending photographic products and communication regarding supply of such products. Information is also collected in the form of model releases (and on occasion, property releases). These releases contain contact information in the form of contact address, telephone numbers and e-mail address.

Model Releases

Information is also collected in the form of model releases (and on occasion, property releases). These releases contain contact information in the form of name (real or model name), contact address, telephone numbers and e-mail address. Model releases may be passed onto stock agencies as required under their publication rules and laws in certain countries. By signing releases, the model or property owner automatically gives permission for their information to be shared in that way. Releases will be held indefinitely.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the blog we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

Avalon Light Photography, as a photography business, publishes photographs. These photographs may contain basic geographic information in the form of keywords within the IPTC data. They do not contain identifiable information, such as name and address, other than that of the copyright holder.

Contact forms

Contact forms record the e-mail address and IP address of the sender. This is to allow return contact as part of legitimate business and for spam protection. By sending a contact request, you are agreeing to Avalon Light Photoart holding such data.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Who we share your data with

The only data shared is anything contained within model and property releases. This is only shared with stock agencies to allow publication and use of photographs under license, to prove ownership of the images and permission to use commercially. No customer data is shared with third parties.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
